Adding wings to your resolutions with Mindset — The Metamorphosis.
The sun has risen on the horizon of the new year.
Stepping into the third day of the year, some of us might be going strong with our resolutions, some already falling prey to indiscipline, and others either being non-resolutioners or critics of the new year being just an excuse.
Personally, I am a new year: new beginnings enthusiast.
I view it as a beautiful process of reflection, transition, and reinvention drawing close, akin to the life cycle of a butterfly.
At the beginning of every year, we are eggs, either egg-cited for the new year or still walking on the eggshells of last year’s broken yolk.
Merely setting unrealistic resolutions without a proper definition and a plan of action will leave you behind like a goalless caterpillar.
A resolution without a measurable definition is like a caterpillar without its bold body patterns, which are its distinguishing features.
The cocoon of hard work, discipline, and resilience cannot be spun without the threads —
The Plan and The Action,
and most importantly, the needle —
Mindset.
Mindset can be transformative right from how you approach your goal to consistency and finally to perfection.
Don’t just set goals for the new year; reflect on your mindset going into the year.
When I mean setting your mindset, I mean embodying the person you aspire to be — their characteristics, their beliefs, and their habits that shape who they are.
This helps in manipulating energies to take that quantum leap towards a better version of yourself.
An incisive needle can spin the threads with finesse to create a soothing yet sturdy cocoon.
This is how you can add more dimensions to your resolutions:
If your resolution is to read more books,
Step 1: Make it a goal
Quantifying your resolutions to transform it into a goal.
My goal is to read 30 books this year
Depending on your goal, create an equilibrium to harmonize both the quantitative and qualitative aspects involved.
The qualitative aspects could be the genre, the standard of writing, literary language used, the author, etc.
My goal is to read at least 5 classics to explore the archaic language and cultures, and 10 self-help books to foster self-awareness.
Step 2: Mindset
Add dimension to your goals by embodying the energies.
Embody an avid reader.
Delve deeper into a reader’s routine. Understand how they decide on what to read, their reading habits, how they create an open-mindedness to explore new genres, how they deal with book slumps — everything
Observe, Understand, Learn, and Replicate with a personal touch.
And finally, after this process of reinvention, the cocoon unveils the product of the process —the ethereal butterfly, spreading its wings of prosperity with the confidence of a warrior, ready to soar through the sky of endless possibilities and clouds of newfound wisdom.
